Hello Pipits!

This Sunday we will be going to Taquanyah Conservation Area, with Rob Porter as Guest Leader!

This will be an afternoon/early evening event.

We meet at 4pm.

Join us with birder Rob Porter as we explore the Taquanyah Conservation Area near Cayuga, Ontario. This lesser-travelled CA has a number of bird-friendly habitats, including marsh, forest, swamp, and open water, and is surrounded by farm fields. The main building also has a large bird feeder.

This location has a lot of trails, and we'll be walking a fair bit. The trails are often muddy so bring footwear appropriate for that.

Please park at the large parking area found at the corner of Decewsville Road and Townline Road. Parking is free as this is a passively maintained CA.

Google Maps lists this parking area at

429 Decewsville Rd, Cayuga, ON N0A 1E0

Rob is a Director-at-Large with the Hamilton Naturalists' Club, and is principal atlasser for the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas zone that Taquanyah CA is part of. He also produces a podcast, "Songbirding", about birding-by-ear.

Looking forward to seeing those who can attend!

The goal of The Pipits is to increase awareness of the natural world, in particular, birds, but also all other wild organisms; in a safe and inclusive social setting where we connect with each other through our mutual appreciation of the wild.
