The Pipits: Sedgewick Forest, 2026

This is a small forest surrounding a water treatment plant in Oakville. The trail leads through the forest and around the plant where the open water keeps a warmer microclimate through the winter. The insects that survive here are sometimes found to support passerines that haven't migrated.

Hello Pipits!

This SUNDAY we will visit the area around a small sewage lagoon in downtown Oakville, Sedgewick Forest. This area typically has unusual overwintering birds, I saw my very first Orange-crowned Warbler here during a winter a few years ago.

We will meet in the parking lot of Patricia-Picknell Elementary School, at 9am.

Looking forward to seeing those who can attend!

The Pipits

The goal of The Pipits is to increase awareness of the natural world, in particular, birds, but also all other wild organisms; in a safe and inclusive social setting where we connect with each other through our mutual appreciation of the wild.
