Search for rare provincial odes (dragonflies) with Chris Cheatle: Joint event with Hamilton Naturalist's Club

Sunday, June 11, 2023,  10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Co-Leaders:  Chris Cheatle, Colleen Reilly

Phone: 289.795.6537

Outing will start at 10:00 a.m. at the west dead end of Township Rd 2, accessed from Brant Oxford Rd (36), 43°11'23.4"N 80°27'18.7"W

To see a map of this location go here: https://goo.gl/maps/F6dVXrPYh3nMy53F9.

We will walk about 300m west to the East Shore of the Nith River, and look for rare provincial odes (dragonflies), as well as butterflies, birds, and wildflowers. Target odes include Rapids Clubtail and Spatterdock Darner.

From the Nith River we will head to Drynan Tract, where there will hopefully be enough space for us to park. There will be much more walking at this location, as we will be following trails. Trails are flat and hard packed.

1192 Dumfries Rd, Ayr, ON N0B 1E0

Chris Cheatle is a well rounded highly knowledgeable Naturalist, who has helped educate and inform Pipit members since the group began.

Many thanks going out to Peter Langballe, from Hamilton Naturalist's Club, who has joined forces with the Pipits to coordinate this joint event between our two clubs! Let's look forward to meeting some new or old friends from HNC!

Looking forward to seeing everyone who can join us!
