The Pipits: Saltfleet Conservation Area and Vinemount Sanctuary, with Bob Curry, 2025
Sun, Mar 30
|Saltfleet Conservation Area
Come join Bob Curry as we explore the recently developed Saltfleet Conservation Area! Vinemount Sanctuary is one of my favorite spring locations, early migrants such as Meadowlarks show up here well before the warblers come in. We'll also go look for shorebirds at nearby flooded fields.

This SUNDAY let's meet at 9am, in the parking lot on First Road East.
Saltfleet Conservation Area was created last year, as a wetland conservation area on the escarpment in Stoney Creek. For more information please visit: https://conservationhamilton.ca/conservation-areas/saltfleet-conservation-area/
As this is a smaller conservation area, we will also plan to visit Vinemount Meadows Sanctuary afterwards, https://hamiltonnature.org/nature-sanctuaries/vinemount/, and to drive by several flooded fields known as hotspots for migrating shorebirds and waterfowl.
There is a fee to park in the Saltfleet CA parking lot unless you have a Hamilton Conservation Area pass, so bring your credit card if you don't have an HCA pass.
